About Start Skipping

Start Skipping Pty Ltd was founded by Carolyn Barker and Kym Warner in January 2005. Start Skipping has a focus to develop the sport of rope skipping by providing opportunities for children throughout Australia to learn basic Rope Skipping Skills in all elements of recreational and competitive skipping. We provide top quality rope skipping products for competitions, training and all fun aspects of the sport.

Carolyn Barker is a primary school teacher based at Cleveland State Primary School, Queensland. Carolyn has been the Head Coach of Cleveland Air Magic Rope Skipping Club for 8 years and has been instrumental in aiding the club achieve numerous National and International successes. Cleveland Air Magic boast a number of World Records and World Champions for both teams and individual events. Over the last 8 years Carolyn has travelled to numerous International competitions and workshops to ensure her skills and knowledge remain at the highest possible standard. As an Australian Coach at the recent World Championships held on the Gold Coast in 2004, many of her individual and team skippers now hold top 10 world rankings.

Carolyn herself has been a successful athlete receiving a Tennis Scholarship to Oklahoma City where she was the first student to become 4 time All American during the 4 years of her university studies. Carolyn has two daughters Lilly and Maddy who both share their mothers passion for the sport of Rope Skipping.

Kym Warner is a Chartered Accountant specialising in Franchise System Development, Computerised Systems and Training. With over 5 years experience in the Fitness Industry, Kym brings a blend of business, systems and industry experience to Start Skipping. Kym has developed her passion for the sport of rope skipping as a parent of a keen Cleveland Air Magic Skipper and has been involved with the Qld Rope Skipping Association and Australian Rope Skipping Association for the last 2 years. Kym was heavily involved with sport throughout school including tennis, swimming, karate and represented Queensland in another small and unusual sport of Marching. Kym and her husband Todd, have two children, Emily and Bailey.
